Alastair Whitton is a South African photographer whose primary work explores notions of belonging and displacement within the shifting socio-political context of Cape Town where he lives. With an affinity for liminal space and an appreciation of the architectural fabric of a city,  he documents the seemingly commonplace capturing the fleeting and often fragile moments of everyday life in the urban landscape.

His photographs have been presented at notable museums, institutions, and international art fairs in major cultural capitals including New York, London, Paris, Lisbon, Antwerp, Venice, Rome, Sydney, Cape Town and Johannebsurg. Whitton’s work can be found in museum collections and academic institutions in South Africa and internationally.
